Our Halloween Fun!

Well, today was Rebecca's first Halloween, and I think she had a good night! Here are some photos of some of the goings on. Other stuff we did that we didn't get still shots of (and we still have not downloaded the software to put movies on our computer yet...) was her eating Squash for the first time (an appropriate Halloween treat I thought!) and her first taste of trick-or-treating!

Here is Becca and Mommy Cat. ;) This was just before Rebecca had her dinner, so we waited to put her costume on after she ate.

This is her Halloween present from mommy and daddy. The book "That's Not My Monster!"

Just before dinner Becca tried on mommy's cat ears. They were a little big, but I thought it was cute!

There we are...all dressed up!

It's hard to get a shot of all three of us when there isn't an extra person to take the picture....this was the best we got.

And there she is! Our little eggplant fairy. ;)

It was such a great night! It was fun to see friends and their kids out and about in thier costumes. Becca enjoyed going to see some of our neighbors for the most part. I think some of it was a bit overwhelming to her, but she did well. I love Halloween and hope you all have had a wonderful, spooky night!

Becca's Halloween Outfit

So...I am a horrible mom and totally didn't think about getting her stuff to wear on Halloween other than her costume! So...I had to throw something together and I don't think it came out too badly...

If only I had an orange bow instead of a pink one...

Happy Halloween!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to be the first one to wish you all a wonderful, scary, fun, candy-filled, and safe Halloween!

I had this pre-posted this morning, but I had to add this cool sunrise that Tyson got a picture of. Very Halloween!

P.S. Enjoy this new background I will only have it up a few days until I switch again!

7 Facts Tag

Whoever started this tag did a great job with making this graphic! Very cool.

Here we go 7 random/weird things about me.

1. My thumbs are double jointed. They have been since I was a baby. My mother's are as well, and I think Rebecca's are too. I used to scrunch them down and play my own game of "Here comes Mr. Duckbill Platipus" instead of "here comes thumbkin" during Sacrament Meeting.

2. I LOVE holidays. Every single one. If I had the money I would deck out my house top to bottom for each holiday. My favorites that I CANNOT miss are Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July. I think I got this from my mother and grandmother.

3. I am affraid of dogs that are bigger than oh say, a Beagle. Long story.

4. I am a bionic woman...well kindof. I have fifteen screws and two metal plates in me.

5. Singing and dancing was my life in high school. Literally. I loved it more than anything, and wanted to make it to Broadway. I doubt that will ever happen, but it was always a dream of mine. There is no feeling like being on stage with a group of people you love singing songs that touch your heart. Some of my favorites we did in high school were from Lion King the Musical.

6. Tyson is the only boy I have ever kissed. (Well that counts, kissing my daddy, grandpa's and I'm sure when I was really little, my brothers doesn't count.)

7. I have issues with feeling alone/left out.

Okay, 7 people to tag, I tag Sara, Angela, Courntey, Jena, Lindsey R, Diana, Torri, Brina, Aimee, and Mom R. (okay, that's ten...but who's counting). ;) And anyone else who wants to...there are too many good friends on my list who like to do tags, so if your name isn't listed and I didn't go post on your blog, do it anyway! ;)

2008 Pumpkins

So, Tyson is so busy at work, I think it will be a few days before he gets to his pumpkin. I might get another one myself and do something crazy hard, but I'm not sure about that. The one I carved on Monday is already horribly wilting and the carvings are warping, so I'm just going to post the pictures we got of the ones that got done on Monday.

First here is my pumpkin both candle-lit and just a normal shot of it. I was happy with how it turned out, and really sad that it is already warping so much!

Then this is Becca's pumpkin. We put a cat on it because she LOVES our kitty so much! The shot of her with the pumpkin was taken last night...you can see in the background how much mine is warping! (Especially look at the "l")

And this is our friend Andrew's witch. He usually leaves his pumpkins with us since he lives in an apartment where it is most likely his pumpkin would get smashed. Gotta love college kids....

Pumpkins

So...in our family carving pumpkins has always been a fun tradition. Even when I was a kid, I was the one who could not go one Halloween without carving one of those big orange squash! It kindof started in DT when we carved a BYU Y with bat wings on it for FHE, but every year since then we have carved pumpkins with our old BYU DT Ward FHE group friends. I don't have pictures from all the years, but I thought I would show off the pictures that I do have so you can see what we are capable of. I will post the pictures of our pumpkins from this year probably tomorrow (since Tyson has not done his yet).

2005

This is my pumpkin (sorry it's blurry, it's the only shot of it we got.

This amazing thing was Tyson's pumpkin! This was the first year I had seen him carve something so cool, and it showed me what pumpkin carving can really be! But I warn you, this is a LOT of work!

And so you can see some of the other fun stuff our friends did those years, here are some of the other pumpkins that year.

2006
This was Tyson's amazing Darth Vader (see a trend?).

And this, is my favorite, and most challenging pumpkin to date. It took me like 2 hours, but it was so worth it!

2007

Tyson had a HUGE pumpkin this year, so he did both of these faces side by side on one pumpkin. It was pretty cool to have the Autobot and Decepticon signs both on one pumpkin (If you don't know what those are, they are the Transformer symbols).

After the year before I wanted to do something really simple...so I did! But I think it turned out well.

This year's pumpkins, yet to be revealed...I hope you enjoyed this little walk down pumpkin lane with me!

Thain's Halloween Party

Saturday was our first dress up adult Halloween party since being married (P.S. A big thank you to Courtney for watching Becca for me!). The Thains started doing these last year and it was a blast! I thought I would post some pictures for all of you to enjoy.

Firstly, here is the beautiful mastermind behind it all, our shipwrecked pirate, Erin!

Tyson and I went as Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. Tyson was a "Hairy" Harry...post book 7 we decided.

Jake and Dialma, our Cowboy and Cowgirl!

Scott and Angela, our Weed and Flower. Angela's skirt was too cute and so much fun!

Travis and Sara were doctors. Travis was having fun with a breast pump filled with cows milk and pretending to milk Sara, but I didn't put that shot on for Sara's sake! ;)

Jared and Erin! Our Cheerleader and Shipwrecked Pirate. I mean wow. Jared really surprised us all with that one!

Clint and Tina, Our Circus Monkey and Banana.

Aaron and Colleen, The 70's Pimp and Chick.

This is our freaky Superman, Tim. Seriously he was frightening. That mask was so freaky!

Jared was practicing his cheerleader poses, with a new, more flattering wig on.

Group Shots!
The Neighborhood Girls! Erin, Sara, Me, Angela and Dialma.
The silly guys!
The lovely ladies.

It was such a fun night! Coming soon, our pumpkins!

Star Wars According to a 3 Year Old

Enjoy!

Becca's First Cold

Our little girl has her first cold. It just came out of nowhere! I don't even remember playing with any kids that were sick. Last night she just screamed at the top of her lungs for like an hour before calming down enough to sleep. Poor thing is so congested she has no clue what to do with herself. I am hoping it is getting better since she slept through the night last night for the first time. Fingers crossed that I don't get sick too!

Book Giveaways

Hey, so I am a bit late in the game, but you still have a chance to enter this week and next week for some AWESOME book giveaways. Go to http://brooketaylorbooks.com/blogset.html and follow her instructions for her MONSTER MONTH OF GIVEAWAYS. This week is all about Zombies and next week is Faeries. If you are a fantasy fan, or even just into Halloween you have to go check this out!

Becca's First Veggies

Hey everyone. Well, Rebecca had been doing so well eating cereal we decided to start her on veggies last night -- peas. I think the pictures speak for themselves as to how she liked them.

Look at that face!

Needless to say, we need to try a few more times to get her used to the flavor. We got video which is even funnier, but we have not downloaded the software for our camcorder yet, so I'll have to try and get Tyson to do that tonight.

So after the big green mess and a little bit of cereal to top her off (since she only ate about 1/3 of the container of peas) we took a bath. She has been sitting up much much better lately, and so we decided to give it a try. Here she is sitting up in her bath all by herself! And a fun splashy picture...she LOVES to splash! Water gets everywhere!

That's all for now!

Ward Halloween Party/Chili Cook Off

Tonight was our Ward Halloween Party and Chili Cook Off. It was a lot of fun. All the kids were so cute, and even some adults dressed up (Tyson and I did). So I thought I would post some fun pictures from the event. I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

Here are some pictures of the church and the general festivities.

This is the outside of the church. I'll show a close-up of the "Jack-o-Lanterns" they were so cute! This shot reminded me of a catholic church building with luminarias.

Here's the pumpkin!

The general festivities.

Here are some costume pics.

This is us. Becca is in her flower fairy (or as we like to call it, Eggplant Fairy) costume. I am Hermione Granger again, and Tyson did his disco/car salesman look.

This was just too awesome not to put on here! This is McKay Marston as Captain Hammer. If you don't know who Captain Hammer is then you need to go watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog (Click on the title). Serisouly it's worth it!

Then when we got home we took a few of just Becca. I plan on going soon to get her official shots done for her 6 month shots in her Halloween Costume, but here are some that we took tonight.

These two are Becca in her "fairy ring".

Her wings.

This is just a silly shot of us trying to get her outfit over her head!
It was a fun night!
